Gore-Tex Transalpine Run
“Up and gone – across the Alps“ will be the motto for intrepid trail runners from around the world who will start the 3rd Gore-Tex Transalpine Run on 01. September 2007.

They will leave Oberstdorf, Germany for Latsch, Italy on a week-long endurance which will be as much about athletic challenge as unusual travel experiences.

Hardly a regular trail run, the race packs four countries, 244 km (156 miles) and nearly 14,000 meters (46,000 ft.) of ascent into only eight days. Double that experience as only teams of two racers each can sign up and you really have something to write home about.

The race is not just about long, grueling stages but also about the diverse landscapes and cultures as the carefully chosen trail route traverses eight of the Alps’ most spectacular mountain ranges. The GORE-TEX Transalpine-Run is likely your best shot at blending athletic passions with a fun vacation experience. Where else than the Alps could you explore hospitable mountain communities and pastoral alpine nature along breath-taking trails while being fully supported each day?

This race draws on tried and tested race routines from previous years but once again seeks new challenges to keep runners on their toes. For a change, Galtür will be added as a new stage host, which also means that a challenging, new pass from Austria into Switzerland will be part of the 2007 race. With interesting daily stages that vary between a short hill sprint and a full-blown marathon on top of climbs of 1,000 to 2,400 meters (3,300 to 8,000 ft.), there simply won’t be time for the race to become mere routine.

Trail runners, marathon pros, ambitious Nordic walkers, speed hikers and enthusiastic spectators should check out www.transalpine-run.com www.transalpine-run.com.

The event website features additional race information, news blogs, photo/video impressions of previous races and an opportunity to register online for the 2007 event.
