New Look For British Championships 2004
Rob / 28.11.2003

The concept of using well established race organisers to combine all that’s best in British Adventure Racing remains, but there will be two completely new races, one urban, one winter, reflecting the way the sport is expanding, two more under new names with some significant changes to the way they run, and two established favourites.
In total the six races will make up a comprehensive series, with varied venues all around the UK. The concluding race of the series will no longer be the ‘BARC Final’, and will have a new, shorter format. The series will run from February to October and one of the great advantages of this cooperation between the UK’s race directors (which does not happen in any other country) is that the increasingly full calendar can be scheduled to avoid date clashes. The BARC dates for 2004 will allow plenty of time between races.
There is significant media interest in the launch, which is being organised by 1090 Communications, a company which has had considerable success marketing triathlon. For 2004 they will marketing and promoting the BARC Series and media partners Dream Team TV and SleepMonsters.com will be at the launch. There will be news of some ‘celebrity’ involvement in the series too, and some of UK adventure racing’s own celebrities, 2003 champions, Team Saab Salomon will be there to meet the press and provide some photo opportunities.
It all adds up to an exciting new championships for 2004 and all will be revealed at the press launch, and with the launch of the new series web site next Wednesday. Any racers in London who want to come along are welcome, it all starts at 10.30am.
