Raid the North Extreme announces 2007 race dates

Jacqueline Windh / 17.01.2007
Race organizers are promising a course that is very technical, with challenging navigation and long sections of pristine and remote wilderness.

The competition will take place June 23 to 30 around Prince Rupert, on the Pacific coast near British Columbia’s border with Alaska. This is the traditional territory of the Tsimshian people, and the theme of the 2007 race will be The Spirit of the Totem.

The total course length will be about 500 km. Race disciplines will be all those of traditional wilderness expedition racing: trekking, mountain biking, paddling and fixed ropes.

The dramatic landscape of British Columbia’s north coast will no doubt offer a challenging and spectacular course. Teams will travel through wilderness that is home to bears, bald eagles and whales, and will have a really good chance of actually seeing a lot of this wildlife as they work their way over land and sea.

Organizers are expecting international teams from Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, and Europe. The entry fee of CAD$4500 (per mixed team of four) is discounted for the first ten teams to enter.
