Race with CARE
Rob Howard / 20.02.2007

The race is a 5 hour run/ride event on which you can decide how long to spend on each discipline (with a minimum of 1 hour spent on each activity). Checkpoints will all be given a points value, so you can choose to visit as many as you wish, but will need good navigational skills to find them. (The forest has many trails ... and not all of them are on the map.)
Teams of 2,3 or 4 can enter and registration opens from 9.00am, with a briefing at 09.30 and a mass start at 10.00. Bike hire is also available if you want to encourage a friend to have a day out and they need a bike.
The entry fee is £30 per person with a map included and all the profit goes to the work CARE support around the world. See www.careinternational.org.uk to find out more about this.
The team staging the race run the Challenge Series each year and raise substantial funds for CARE by getting corporate teams to take part. The series includes traditional ‘3 Peaks’ walks, one-day multi-sport challenges, a tough 24 peaks challenge in the Lake District, and special ‘3 Peaks’ events in Scotland and Ireland. The organising team are one of the most experienced in corporate challenges, and have competed in some ACE and Dynamic Adventure races themselves.
The adventure race at Swinley will be good training for the company teams training for challenges in the summer, but is open to all and there is no requirement to fundraise ... though it’s not discouraged!
If you want to know more, or to enter, see the event web page here, and if you think your company would benefit from a team challenge take a look at the rest of the Challenge Series while you are there.
