They’ve barely shaken the Namibian sands out of their boots, and the intrepid BBC ‘Are You Tough Enough’ crew are planning to head off to inhospitable foreign climes again - and this time it’s going to be cold. No, it’s going to be absolutely freezing – it’s going to be ‘SAS ICE: Are You Tough Enough’!

The third series has just finished in the desert, and will go out early next year, but plans are well advanced for series four, and they are looking for applications right now.
As usual they are going to make the 3 week training programme as realistic as possible. It will be designed and run by ex-SAS members who will make it as authentic as they can, and of the 24 selected to go only a few will survive to the last days, and only one will be declared ‘Tough Enough’.

If you fancy a go you’ll need to get your application form in by January 12th and keep January 24/25th free, in case you’re among the 100 chosen to go on the selection weekend. If you get through that into the final 24 the filming will be over 3 weeks later in the year, though the production team are not saying where.
If you are chosen the beeb will get in touch with your employer to ask if you can have time off to take part. In the past some of the UK’s top adventure racers have been chosen to go, but had to pull out as they could not get the time off. Maybe this time they’ll get to go, as there is no restriction on applying again if you’ve done so for earlier series.

They are seeking people who are very fit and looking for a huge challenge – not someone who goes to the gym just a few times a week. Applicants need to be mentally tough and versatile across a range of skills and terrains ... and not surprisingly adventure racers have always done exceptionally well. All those who survived the recent TNF Winter XX could apply!
