The Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge enjoys the support of the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, and the Federal Group’s Pure Tasmania brand along with a growing list of sponsors all in the name of charity. Funds raised from the support the Mark Webber Challenge Foundation which focuses on assisting children’s charities and meaningful environmental projects.
Launched in Melbourne to coincide with Webber’s return for his home Formula One Grand Prix this weekend– it was also revealed that this year’s Challenge will start at the beautiful Cradle Mountain on November 17 which includes a first for the event; a prologue. The Challenge will then head East taking in some of the most scenic environment in the World within and surrounding Lake St Clair National Park before moving overland to the spectacular Freycinet Peninsular on Tasmania’s sunshine east coast . The Challenge will end in Hobart on November 23 with a spectacular finish in and around the State’s capital.
Busy preparing for his first race with new team Red Bull Racing, Webber took time out to speak to at today’s launch revealing that the 2007 Challenge will feature two new categories which will enable corporate teams to compete against professional athletes and celebrities but within their own class.
