Register soon for the 2007 Gold Nugget AR
Press Release by Don Childrey / 29.08.2007

Uwharrie Mountains, NC -
Adventure racers have just thirty-three days left to get registered
for the 2007 Gold Nugget Adventure Race. The October 6th race itself is
just under six weeks away. That's enough time to shake the dog days of
summer and get in some training so you'll be ready for the hike-a-bike,
portaging, and bushwhacking to be found in the Uwharries. Course
disciplines include mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering, general
navigation, and some special challenges.
Teams of two or four racers can choose from three course lengths:
the Treble Hook 4 hour course, the Crazy Eight 8 hour course, or the
Dirty Dozen 12 hour course. All courses feature a modified rogaine
format with a few mandatory checkpoints and the freedom to choose your
own route among the other checkpoints. Scoring is based on the value of
the checkpoints you find during the course time limits.
Racers will be provided with maps, checkpoint coordinates, a wicking
race shirt, a post-race meal, and free on-site camping before and after
the race. The top team in each division will receive a 50% entry fee
payback plus a 50% discount for a future race. All racers will be
entered into a prize drawing to be held after the race.
