Fortis, ranked 20 in the Global Fortune 500 and with a market capitalization of EUR 38.2 billion, has agreed this week to be the associate sponsor and support the warm-up Duathlon series. This sees participants (solos and relay teams of 2) run 8km before a 15km technical mountain bike ride around Chi Ma Wan peninsula.
“We originally designed the series as a warm-up to the international Action Asia Challenge in December, but it is now a completely stand alone event and getting more popular with the series extended to 3 races now. (There were 2 last year)â€
And with Fortis on board, we can know take it to the next level and consider opening up more categories within the raceâ€, said Race Director & Course Designer Michael Maddess.
Champion Systems who support some international cycling teams and other HK Cycling Association members has also confirmed to take over as the apparel sponsor bringing a whole new look to the Gatorade AA Off-Road Series.
As some of Hong Kong’s top athletes have moved away, sighting air pollution as one of the main reasons, (Gary Mandy, Mark Williams, Daniel Brown) the door is open for podium placings with over 150 entries already received.
