Hundreds of racers around the world are awaiting an announcement from the Primal Quest organizing crew about the exact venue for the 2008 race, set for June 21st to July 2nd.

Race Director Don Mann has already indicated that the competition will take place in a western American state, and has commissioned three different possible route designs that his team have been working with. States that are under consideration include Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.

While not yet ready to announce which state will end up hosting the event, Mann indicates that they are getting close. He and his crew plan to be out on the course during October. “The permitting process is progressing nicely,” he says. “Everything looks good, and we hope to make the big announcement within a month.”

Meanwhile, there is lots of activity on the PQ website, so check out the action at www.ecoprimalquest.com. This includes the first competitors’ newsletter, just released, as well as a page for racers looking for teams.

So far, 81 teams from 8 countries are registered for the race. The registration quota has been increased to allow up to 90 teams.
