SM: Daryl whats your background, how did you become involved in Adventure Racing?

DF: I\'ve got degrees in phys ed and IT and have spent most of my corporate life as a software engineering manager and Chief Technology Officer with the latter part tied up in private equity.

I was a tri-hard age group hack and keen MTB enduro rider. i-RULE came out of my need for time away from mainstream greed and amoral commercial life and a desire to make a pair of shorts you could run, ride, paddle and climb in. The AR involvement came out of helping Kiwi-German legend Marcel Hagener with kit after the MiZone Length of New Zealand Race;.now that was a real race! Marcel was our first sponsored athlete and did a terrific job for i-RULE along with quiet achiever Tasmania\'s own Kris Clauson.

SM: Where are you guys based? and how long has i-RULE being going now?

DF: i-RULE has 2 units if you like; the design, operations, IT-web and finance unit which is located in Fairlie an alpine village of 1,000 on the main tourist drag between Christchurch and Queenstown. The town is less than 30 minutes away from 3 ski field as well as 2 lakes, Lake Tekapo, Lake Opuha and a magnificent alpine playground. The production team and office are located in Timaru, a coastal town of around 20,000 which is 40 minutes east of Fairlie. i-RULE turns 5 on October 13th.
