Jay Challenge Race Director Dan DesRosiers has announced several exciting new developments for the 2004 event.

The Jay Mountain Bike Race, a 60-mile race to be held on July 25th, will become a qualifier for the World Solo Championship race of the 24 Hours of Adrenaline series, to be held at Whistler Resort in British Columbia from September 4th to 5th. The top three men and top two women at the Jay event will qualify in the elite category of the Solo Championship, which offers a total prize purse of $20,000. The top Jay competitor in each age group will also qualify to compete for an age group title at the Solo Championship, although there is no prize money in this category. Further details can be found at www.24hoursofadrenaline.com.

The Jay Crossover, a 26-mile paddling race to be held on July 23rd, will add a Pro category, with the classifications K1 Unlimited, K2 Unlimited, C1 Unlimited and C2 Unlimited. Prize money will be offered for the top three places in the Men\'s and Women\'s categories. Total prize money is currently $5000, and the event is working to secure additional sponsors.

Finally, the Jay Marathon, a trail race to be held on July 24th, has been named a qualifier for the trophy series of Trail Runner Magazine. Each Jay participant will accumulate points for the series, which awards points for both finishing and placing in any race in the series. Details can be found at www.trailrunnermag.com.

The Jay Challenge is a three-day stage race, now in its third year, comprised of a 26-mile kayak race across Lake Memphremagog, a mountain marathon, and a 60-mile mountain bike race.

Participants may enter one or two of the events, or compete in the entire three days. Racers in previous years have described the marathon and mountain bike courses as some of the toughest they have ever encountered.

The 2004 event will be held on July 23 - 25, and registration is now open.
