World Championship Entry List Announced
Rob / 27.02.2004

Making the announcement Geoff Langford, President of Frontier Adventure Racing Inc. (FAR Inc.), commented; The enthusiastic response to this event made the selection process difficult, but we have narrowed the field to the following list of competitive international teams. As we announced recently, we are able to add 10 spots for this race, bringing the total field to 60.\"
He added: \"Due to a great amount of last-minute interest of highly qualified teams, we will select the final 5 teams on March 22. Registration will remain open for teams interested in applying to the waitlist.\"
The teams taking part in Newfoundland in August come from 14 countries and among them are the defending champions from the first World Championship race in Switzerland, the Finns of Nokia Adventure.
Eight other teams who won qualifying races over the past 2 years are listed, so not all those eligible took up the option, but of those who did there are two strong New Zealand teams, the defending RTNX title holders, EADS of France, and 2003 Raid Gauloises winners Montrail. Top South African team, Mazda, will be one of the favourites too. IRL/UK are also entered, though the team that won Adrenalin Rush 2 years ago (Noel Hanna, Nicky and Jim Davies, & Gary Robertson) have not raced as a unit again since.
Most of those who entered after getting runners up spots in qualifying races are from the US and Canada, the exception being UK team Aberdeen Asset Management. The remainder of the list comes from those who applied and were accepted as being of suitable international standard and experience.
The biggest name here is undoubtedly Nike ACG/Balance Bar. There is naturally a strong US and Canadian emphasis, with many strong teams, but others are from Australia (including AROC), Chile, France, South Africa and Brazil. Notably absentees are Seagate of New Zealand, who had so many great races against Nike ACG/Balance Bar last year.
