Airbus Retain Title at World Team Challenge
Rob Howard / 17.12.2007

The race was the culmination of a year of events in the Intelligent Sport® World Series and for the first time, competitors from Asia took to the course and joined in with the unique mix of endurance racing, problem solving and teamwork that makes up the Intelligent Sport concept.
Adrenalin and anticipation ran high from the first stage, when QinetiQ took the top score and it looked like they might actually take the crown from 3 times reigning champions Airbus.
There was sure to be fight back however, and stage two saw an impressive effort by the UK based Airbus team to recover the lead, which they maintained through to the finish line on the last day. (QinetiQ finished 4th in the end.)
So Airbus remain the undisputed champions for the 4th year running, once again working together to devise and execute the best strategy at the event and retaining the title of “Best Business Team in The World!â€
Other trophy winners over the weekend were; Airbus Mixed - 2nd place (yes, their mixed team finished second), Detica - 3rd place, Lloyds TSB - Best Female Team, BG Group - Best Asian Team, HKAYP - Most Sporting Team, BG Team Hope - Best Fundraising Team, and Atea Sweden - Most Improved Team. Europe also scored an impressive victory against the American teams, allowing them to once again take home the Santa Maria Cup.
Congratulations too to Kyle Hamrick of BG Group who finished the event in style. After 4 years of competing together he decided there would not be a more appropriate time to propose to team mate Dena Overby than the finish line on the last day of events!
Organisers Challenger World have also announced the venue of next year’s Cisco Euro Challenge, which will take place in Sauerland, Germany, and the launch of a new 24 hour corporate race, the IS24 Challenge, which will take place in May in the UK.
