National AR League, feedback please

In something of a bold move it was put to us a couple of weeks ago that a National Adventure Racing League be put together for 2008. There has already been much discussion over the running of such a scheme,and i decided it was time to ask the masses, there have been many things to consider, so here is a start.

First and formost the sole aim is to further promote the sport and grow all forms of Adventure Racing.

Also hopefully all things going to plan hand out some prizes at the end of the year.

The general consensus is that Adventure Racings Origins stemmed from the likes of events such as the Eco Challenge, Raid Galouises and The Southern Traverse and in more recent years has gained major mainstream media coverage through events like Primal Quest in the US.

As such the focus of the League would be on the team aspect, to separate individuals out of teams would not work as in our minds and i am sure yours you would realise that each team member can bring something different to a team, someone may not be as fast in a kayak, but is great at the navigation, so it becomes a measure of the team as a whole.

The plan also would be that Pemier Mixed would be focused on, but all male and all female wouldnt be forgotten.

We think teams should be allowed to register between 5 and 7 team mates, and yes you could be on more than one team. You would register your teams on SleepMonsters.com.au

The races covered would consist of events using between 2 and 4 team mates, so if you were to enter more than 1 team in an event we would take the higher scoring team. Points would be allocated down to 25th.

Races covered would be from WA to Vic, NSW and Qld, giving most folk a good chance of ranking.
