Kokoda Spirit shines as the Challenge draws near.

Johllene Wright / 17.04.2008
The 2008 Challenge is shaping up as the best year ever, with four times the number of teams signed up compared to this time last year, causing the association to put a 250-team limit on the Challenge.

Don Wallace, one of Australia’s leading ultra runners and record holder of the Six Foot Track for ten years, says the Kokoda Challenge is the toughest team event that he has ever competed in.

Don and his team, Nike Hammer, have won the event for the past two years and hold the record of 11 hours and 59 minutes.

“The Kokoda Challenge is a great ultra distance event that seems to have captured the imagination of keen runners like ourselves, but also the general public looking for a challenge,” said Nike Hammer Team member, Mike Page.

The Kokoda Challenge is not just a physical event – it enhances the Kokoda Sprit, remembering the Australian soldiers who fought for our freedom, but also raises money for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program (KCYP).
