Australia’s Own Amazing Race, ‘Urban Max’ hits Melbourne in August.
Press Release / 26.06.2008

Founded by outdoor event management company, Maximum Adventure, Urban Max is designed for all skill and fitness levels. In fact, a number of the activities require sharp wits more than stamina. This is one race where speed alone will not get you over the line first.
In the spirit of reality TV show ‘The Amazing Race’, teams can utilise various forms of public transport such as buses, ferries and trains to cover longer distances as they race from checkpoint to checkpoint.
“Choosing when and when not to use the transport system can be a deciding factor in this raceâ€, says race organiser, Henry van Heerden adding that “in the past, competitors have taken the easy road, only to find that the bus has taken them three times longer than getting there by foot!â€. Competitors are issued with a ‘clue sheet’ at the start of the race, including cryptic hints and details on how to reach the checkpoints. Some are easy to find, while others require a bit of lateral thinking. Competitors use maps to navigate their way around the city and have up to six hours to complete the course.
