Volunteering For Subaru Primal Quest

All big races rely on volunteers, and if you want to be on the front line of one of the biggest races of the year you can now sign up for the volunteer team for this year’s Subaru Primal Quest in the Pacific North West.

You could end up some in memorable places, and will be part of a race in which over 100 teams are competing, including many of the world’s best. You’ll need to make a big time commitment though as the organizers are asking you to commit to work throughout the race – 15 days from September 14th-28th.

Announcing that volunteer registration was open via the web site on April 19th they said, “We will consider all volunteers, but those that are not available for the entire event will be put on a waiting list and will be considered closer to the event.”

If you’re interested there is more detail on the web site and you will need to get yourself to and from Washington State with all your own camping gear and supply your own food and water while you are out on the course. You’ll be provided a small stipend, tented accommodation and meals before and after the race, airport transfers and, of course, ‘SPQ Staff Schwagg’.

The categories the race are looking for volunteers to work on include TC/CP staff, medics, competitor relations, logistics, web site and transport teams. And if you apply you’ll need to give details of any previous volunteer experience, medical skills, interests … and the reason you want to volunteer.
