Family Adventure Racing

Rob Howard / 11.09.2008
A new family adventure race, possibly the first in the UK, is being organised for Saturday Oct. 18th. The Wendover Woods Family Adventure Challenge is described as an orienteering event for the family on foot and on bicycle, and is being organised by Neil Thubron – who used to race in the successful Blue Notes team.

The race is open to teams who must consist of a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child, with up to a maximum of 4 people in a team. There will be 2 categories (11 years old and under/11 – 16 years), with the category determined by the eldest child.

The objective is to gain as many points as possible by visiting as many check points as possible in the allocated time, to fun as a family and also to help raise money for the NSPCC and Facing Africa charities.

The race location is Wendover Woods in Bucks and entry is limited to a maximum of 100 teams and entries will close when full or on the 10th October. The entry fee is £30 per teams and each team will be given a start time between 1300 and 1400 and the maximum time allowed for the competition is 2.5 hours.
