The inaugural Bike Buller MTB Festival set to race at Mt Buller in the Victorian Alps

“Mt Buller is establishing itself as a leading mountain bike destination with a comprehensive cross country trail network featuring new single tracks, 4WD and double tracks that stretch between the Buller Village and the neighbouring Mt Stirling,†said Same Maffett, Rapid Ascent General Manager. “ It’s one of the best locations in the State and the ideal venue for a mountain bike stage race and festival.â€
The Bike Buller MTB Festival will include three different races over two days that will bring all that is great about mountain biking to the one location for a massive weekend of bikes, single track, fresh air and partying at a place that is renowned for good times. The format will include races to challenge and enthrall competitive riders through to more recreational biking participants with a schedule including:
Saturday March 21st, 2009:
- A thrilling 25km cross-country (XC) race along the cranking new single track located in and around the Mt Buller Village.
- A fun 10km kids’ event that puts children in the spotlight and gives them a taste of the single track, fun and enjoyment of mountain biking.
- A 7km Super-D (cross-country downhill) race where 5 riders set off together down a flowing race track that descends over 600 vertical metres on a roller coaster route that’ll put a smile on your dial.
- A party-till-you-drop rider’s celebration on Saturday night with plenty of liquid refreshments, live music and give aways at a Mt Buller bar.
Sunday March 22nd, 2009:
- A 55km XC race around Mount Stirling on flowing wilderness trails and single tracks in a magical alpine setting
- Finishing off with a casual BBQ and presentations on Sunday afternoon.
