2009 Keen Adventure Race Australia Preview.
Media Release - Rapid Ascent / 23.10.2008

Previous editions of this world renowned stage race traversed the length of the Great Ocean Road in 2007, and travelled from the Alps to the Ocean in 2008 and now the 2009 race will showcase another spectacular region of Australia by unearthing the continent’s southernmost point – the beautiful Wilsons Promontory National Park and South Gippsland regions in a classic 5 day adventure participants will never forget.
Race Director and adventure racing legend John Jacoby has just returned from another course reconnaissance through the area and came back simply beaming, “Wow, this place is spectacular. Competitors are going to see some really lovely areas as part of this race and I am really happy with how the course is coming together.â€
“There are some magnificent run legs along picture-postcard beaches; scenic paddle legs past islands and around some great headlands with the mountainous Wilsons Prom as a back drop. The mountain biking is also pretty scenic but I’d have to say the highlight will be the ropes activities as there are some huge granite cliffs and rocky outcrops that I’ve got some great ideas for†added John.
The format for the 2009 Keen Adventure Race has changed slightly from previous years and is designed to provide maximum enjoyment for athletes while making it as easy as possible for teams to participate in this world renowned race. The premier format still sees teams of 2 compete in 4 stages over 5 days but competitors no longer need the assistance of a support crew with all the logistical work being done by race organizers Rapid Ascent, making it far easier for international and interstate competitors to compete.
