Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
Media Release / 24.10.2008

Webber spent a few hours in Melbourne’s Collins Street with fellow competitors and North Melbourne Football Club greats Glenn Archer and Leigh Colbert.
“We are looking forward to seeing the AFL boys in action in Tassie – we have a couple of gold medal rowers joining us too in Scott Brennan and David Crawshay.â€
“It’s a long week but they’ll handle themselves well, they’re conditioned athletes. We have all sorts of people coming down to do the event and everyone has their own set of goals and challenges.â€
Kangaroos ‘shin-boner’ of the century, Archer will pair with his former backline teammate Leigh Colbert for what will be their biggest physical challenge since hanging up the boots in 2007 and 2005 respectively.
“Mark approached me while I was competing in the Celebrity Race at the Australian Grand Prix and I said I’d love to support the event and the work it does in raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation and the Save the Tassie Devil Appeal. I was pretty nervous about how the body would hold up,†says Archer, “but after a few discussions about what to expect I thought I would give it go. I’m thrilled to be heading to Tassie, it should be awesome.â€
