Entries Open Soon for the 7th Annual The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®

Registration for the Ultra-Trail® has become a hard battle, despite the stricter requirements enforced in recent years. In 2008 almost 5000 competitors registered successfully, but at least as many were disappointed - the sheer number of applications congesting both phone lines and the internet.

This year, to make the procedures fairer, the organisers have put in place a new registration process.

For 2009, The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® offers a fabulous adventure through 4 different races!

UTMB®: This is the classic race through 3 countries covering approximately 166km and 9400m of ascent. The race has a 46 hour time limit and starts Friday 28th August 2009 at 18:30 in the centre of Chamonix Mont-Blanc. The entry limit is 2300 participants.

CCC® (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix): Again the route passes through 3 countries, covering approximately 98km and 5600m of ascent. The course time limit is 25 hours max with the start on Friday 29th August 2009 at 09:00 in the centre of Courmayeur with a maximum of 1800 participants.

Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie [TDS]: This covers approximately 105km with6700m of ascent. The course time limit is 30 hours and the race starts on Saturday 30th August 2009 at 05:00 in the centre of Chamonix Mont-Blanc with 1200 participants.

La Petite Trotte à Léon [PTL]: Again through 3 countries covering approximately 250km and 18,000m ascent. This race is for 60 completely self-sufficient non-ranking teams of 3. Each team must stay together at all times. The start is on Tuesday 25th August in late afternoon from the centre of Chamonix Mont-Blanc.

An electronic draw will take place after the closing of pre-registrations on Wednesday 7th January 2009.

Applicants who failed in the 2008 draw, providing they pre-register, will automatically receive a race entry (equivalent to their 2008 race application) on the closing date of the pre-registrations.

For La Petite Trotte à Léon: The main draw will take place on the 22nd December to allow unsuccessful applicants to pre-register for one of the other races before the 7th January 2009.

For all races: Successful applicants will have a period of 10 days to confirm their registration by submitting the required supporting documents and paying the balance of their registration fee by credit card. Applicants who fail to confirm their registration within the 10 day period will forfeit their deposit (to be retained by the organisers) and will not receive a priority enrolment in the following year.
