Diamond Quest Ireland
Press Release / 08.02.2009

The race, organised by Adventure Ireland/Causeway Coast Adventure Racing will set off from Carlingford Co Louth with a hill run through the scenic Cooley Mountains, followed by a short kayak section from Omeath to Warrenpoint. The race concludes with a bike ride through the heart of the Mourne Mountains down to Newcastle in County Down.
Proceeds of the race are to be donated to the African Schools Trust Charity, whose aim is to raise funds for a feeding programme to nourish 100\'s of children of school age in the slums of Nairobi for a year.
As charity patron, Lucy Jaffa explains, its not just first across the finish line who\'ll receive prizes. \" To give everyone the opportunity to win one of our diamonds, we\'ll be allocating one for those in the top 50, another for the next 100 and a third diamond for the rest of the competitors. An extra diamond will be won by any competitor or guest at the after party that night held in O\'Hare\'s bar, Newcastle, when we\'ll sneak a diamond into a glass of champagne. It means you dont have to be the fittest to win a diamond, and you\'ll still have fun taking part.\"
Everest climber Hannah Shields, who is supporting the event said,\"Taking part in a race like this will give competitors such a fantastic buzz of adrenaline as well as the great feeling of helping so many needy children in Africa.\"
Your entry fee of £80, which includes race t-shirt, post race party and refreshments, will feed 30 children for one month! Further details can be obtained by contacting either Lucy 07734083533 or Ivan 07866416550 or visiting the website at www.diamondquestireland.com.
