The Rat Race will have locals looking at their home ground in a different light. For the out-of-towners, this is the perfect opportunity to visit Canberra outside of the classic museum-monument route!

Going from the nearby bush for a quick paddle to the inner city for a coffee stop, a game of ten-pin bowling or a pole dancing class, participants will ride their bike, walk or ride the bus to as many challenges as they decide to tackle.

Part Amazing Race, part scavenger hunt, this event lets racers choose what they want to do and how fast they want to do it. Some will strategise late into the night on Friday and aim for the podium, while others will just want to take advantage of the flurry of activities available to have a laugh and enjoy their day out.

Participants will gather points throughout the day by visiting checkpoints and completing various challenges in any order. Challenges are a mix of brain (quizzes, scrabble games, etc.), brawn (climbing, water-sliding, etc.), belly (pancake eating, iron guts, etc.) and heart (Hartley Lifecare Challenge, Greening Australia tree planting, etc.).
