Helly Hansen Announces 2009 dates for the UK’s Biggest one-day Team Event

Fans of adventure, fun and excitement will be pleased to hear that they can begin training for the popular 2009/10 Helly Hansen Adventure Race Series. Event organisers, TrailPlus have announced the dates and venues for the 2009/10 series. The races will be held on the 20 September, 18 October, 6 December, 31 January (2010) and 21 March (2010).

With adventure racing becoming an increasingly popular sport, Helly Hansen is proud to have secured the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series as the UK's biggest one-day adventure race team event.

The five one-day races can be entered individually or as a series. Blending physical challenge and teamwork, they are designed for teams of three, who must stay together throughout the race. Each adventure race features a three-way mix of trail running (10k), challenging mountain biking (25k) and canoeing on flat water in an inflatable kayak (1.5k). The fastest teams are likely to compete the course in under three hours, with most coming in within five hours and a few crossing the finish line in seven hours.

2009 dates and venues are:

- Sunday 20 September: Cannock Chase, Staffordshire

- Sunday 18 October: Longmoor Camp, Hampshire

- Sunday 6 December: Hawley, Nr Camberley, Surrey

- Sunday 31 January (2010): Pirbright, Surrey

- Sunday 21 March (2010): Grisedale forest, Lake District

The order of activities is revealed on the day, and disciplines may be split, plus competitors will face a few testing challenges thrown in between circuits. However, the route is marked, so navigation skills are not necessary.

The team entry price is £135 per event – an early entry incentive will be offered and discounts are available for clubs or organisations entering five or more teams in any one race. There will be team prizes for race winners and for pole position in the overall series.
