Giants Causeway Off Road Marathon

This is a unique event in Ireland, organised by 26Extreme.com, which will see runners passing through the Giants Causeway, Dunseverick Harbour, White Park Bay and Ballintoy Harbour. The entire route passes through magnificent coastline scenery with fine views of wide bays, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and off - shore rocks, all of which characterise the Causeway Coast, making its beauty and uniqueness world famous.<br /> <br /> The marathon route will follow the paths, tracks, beaches and coastline of the Causeway Coast Way, between Portballintrae and Ballintoy Harbour. The event will take place on Saturday 10 October 2009 and will include a half marathon, a 10k run/walk and a 26 mile challenge walk. The event is limited to a maximum of 750 competitors across all events, and each of the events on the day will have different start times and three start locations. All of the events will finish in Portballintrae. <br /> <br /> This coastline has inspired tales of giants, fairies, battles and shipwrecks • hopefully each and every competitor in this event can return home with fond memories and tales of this fantastic event. <br /> <br /> 26Extreme's plan is to make this a yearly event on the running calendar and in doing so will provide an increased awareness of the Causeway Coast area and raise the potential of return visits from participants.
