Adventure Race Training in Mexico
News Release / 27.11.2009

Both camps are all-inclusive, so you can concentrate on training, improving, enjoying cultural experiences, and maximizing your enjoyment! The camps feature a thorough curriculum designed to take you to new levels in adventure sports and/or photography.
Participants will discover the tips, tricks and lessons learned from organizing and competing in some of the biggest and most challenging events in the world. And you'll experience incredible Mexican terrain, history and culture that most tourists will never see.
The classic Jalcomulco AR Training Camp (March 6-13) is focused on skills development and certification for Adventure Racing, including navigation, ropes, first aid for AR, flatwater and whitewater paddling, swiftwater rescue, mountain biking, night travel, teamwork, strategy, transitions, nutrition, training plans and more!
With everything from flat and white water, thickly treed hills and valleys, rocky canyons, singletrack of all levels, waterfalls and big walls, it's easy to fill our senses and our training days. It's also not far to get back to the idyllic village of Jalcomulco for fabulous food, drinks, atmosphere and social time in the evenings. Plus we'll cap off the week with an 8-hour race to put all your new skills into practice!
The popular Pico2Playa Expedition Training Week (March 13-20) is designed to simulate the expedition racing experience, and provide a spring 'tune up'. Participants will trek up the slopes of the highest peak in Mexico, Pico de Orizaba, bike little-known singletrack trails, paddle stunning class II-III rivers, trek through canyons, on plateaus and to quaint villages, learning ropes skills at waterfalls and canyons en route, stopping at camps, lodges, hacienda and huts, making their way to the beaches of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico for a big city finish.
Both AR weeks are built for everyone – whether you want to get ready for your first race, get yourself to the next level of competitiveness, or get your certifications for PQ or other big races.
If the sunny warm weather, welcoming villages, and spectacular terrain for outdoor adventure aren't tempting enough, the quality of instructors certainly should be:
• Canada's best adventure racers and course designers have instructed these camps. Lawrence Foster (Team Holofibre), Bob Miller (Team Supplierpipeline), and top Canadian female racer Trish Westman, have shared their skills and experience in navigation, trekking, biking, strategy, teamwork, ropes, and more
• The paddling, first aid, and ropes experts of Esprit (named #2 Outfitter in the World by National Geographic!), including owner and world champion paddler Jim Coffey.
•Race Director of some of the most respected races in the world (Raid the North Extreme, AR World Champs 2004), Geoff Langford
All of this – spectacular location, top-notch instruction, and an all-inclusive week-long getaway – for under $2000 CDN. Registration is now open at www.camp-frontier.com. Don't hesitate - each camp is limited to 16 participants! And if you're really focused on the podium, consider signing up for both weeks – you'll get a $100 discount.
