Your Chance to Vote in the AR Awards
Rob Howard / 04.01.2010

Everyone involved in adventure racing is encouraged to make their nominations (even if they can’t make the ball themselves), which will then be considered by judges who have been selected by those offering the awards. This is so the process is not a popularity contest or open to abuse, and in keeping with the idea of making these the “peoples choice†awards the prizes are not of any high value. They are a recognition of the achievements in the UK AR community in the past year.
The Blue Ribband award of the night is ‘The Adventure Racers Award’, which will go to’the best team or individual racer of the year, with excellent all round performances’, and other categories are for inspiration, endurance, suffering, best race and course planning, young racer, newcomer and unsung heroes. The awards also include the infamous ARSE awards for tantrum of the year, media whore and tart of the year, among others.
You can make your nominations and give your reasons online by completing <a href="#" onClick="javascript:newsitewindow('http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDVKTE5DVFhVZXJmUzNBUFlGMHVGU1E6MA')" class="main">this form</a>. The sooner this is done the better, but the form will be available until 21.00 on Jan. 15th.
Tickets for the ball have sold well and its sure to be a good night, but there is still time to get yourself a place if you want, although this shouldn’t be left until the last minute as meals have to be ordered in advance. There is a weekend programme of activities with a social ride on Saturday and Run/Walk on Sunday (depending on the weather conditions), and renowned Ceilidh Band, Striding Edge, will be performing on the night of the ball.
