AR comes of age in Australia with 10 day outback expedition race
Rosi / 09.08.2004

This is the longest ever adventure race to be held in Australia, and is in the style of an expedition. With no support crews teams need to be virtually self sufficient, with access only to several small prepacked supply crates at various stages on the course.
Teams travel over 700km in 10 days through the vast and barren Australian outback, with the race beginning in the mining town of Broken Hill on Wednesday morning.
The race may well be indicative of Adventure Racing in Australia coming of age. While Australian teams traditionally perform very well in major international races, the adventure racing scene in Australia has only just been deveoping over the past 2 to 3 years, with Geoquest providing a focus each year and other race organisations such as ARA, Maximum Adventure and AROC providing some great races to finaly give Australia an adventure race calendar of note.
