Max Adventure Paddle
Steve Cooper - SleepMonsters Australia / 21.01.2010

The idyllic Woronora river skirting the Sutherland shire plays host to this seasons event, bounded by Sutherland Shire on one side and a Nuclear Reactor on the other side this sleepy little hollow will come alive on the last Saturday in February to the sound of well over 100 sets of clattering kayak paddles. Forearms will burst as may lungs as competitors navigate their way along the Woronora River and surrounding waterways, note to all competitors you will be getting out of your kayaks and must wear covered footwear, for full races rules and regulations check out <a href="#"onClick="javascript:newsitewindow('www.maxadventure.com.au/AdventurePaddle/index.htm')"class="main">Adventure Paddle</a>.
Competitors merely brushed the Woronora in the inaugural event (for those that went the extra mile), this time competitors may be lucky if they escape the grips of the Mighty Wony.
Competitors are supplied a marked 1:25 000 map of the course with all checkpoints pre marked, but the individual points for each checkpoint will only be given out after the start at a secret location teams and individuals will then be faced with collecting checkpoints similar to a regular rogaine. Harsh penalties will be incurred for teams not getting back to Race HQ in the alotted time. Note as per above with footwear as some points maybe away from the water to stretch your legs. The team/individuals accumulating the most points/least penalties and in the shortest time will be crowned Champions. There will be classes for single and double craft as well as classes for Toy Boy doubles as provided by maximum adventure should you wish to race in that class or be without a craft, so if you happen to see some racey craft burn past you, remember they are racing against their own kind/class, all you have to worry about are the other orange Toy Boy doubles.
