Anaconda Adventure Race in New Zealand launched

Unquestionably the Anaconda Adventure Race (AAR) International Series has taken Australia by storm having created the Worlds Biggest Adventure Race with the Augusta WA leg of the series and now it is the Kiwi’s turn to give it a go with the same event format being retained for New Zealand race.

Often regarded as the home of adventure racing, New Zealanders are not shy about pursuing the odd adventure and giving things their all with some of their own countrymen winning Anaconda Adventure Races in Australia in the past. In fact former Adventure Racing World Champion, Richard Ussher from New Zealand has proved almost unbeatable in the mixed discipline race by winning the 2008 Series.

When asked about the series’ expansion into his home country, Richard Ussher commented, “The Anaconda race series is one of the best concepts in adventure racing, it brings athletes from Surf, Tri, Multisport and many others together to see who has the best all round skills. The races are also achievable for anyone game enough to give it a try with each leg relatively short. I think the Anaconda race concept is the best race format in the world. I’m thrilled the Anaconda Series is coming to NZ and will be looking forward to a great event in April.”
