2010 sees the Saab Salomon Outdoor Team become the Salomon Trail Team

After a season that saw the Saab Salomon Outdoor Team capture much of the UK, European and World mountain running glory, 2010 sees a new name for this all-conquering team of trail and mountain runners – the Salomon Trail Team.

This year will also see a modification in the team line-up, and the cementing of even stronger backing from the team’s majority sponsor Salomon. 2009 sponsors that will continue to support the team are Suunto, ZipVit, Mavic and Fisher Outdoor.

Speaking about the coming season team manager Tim Lloyd is excited, and feels that the team can achieve even greater success in 2010:

“2009 is going to be a tough one to top, but we will be having a go!”, said Lloyd, “We won the Everest Marathon and women’s Commonwealth uphill title through Anna Frost, the historic Zegama Sky Race through Ricky Lightfoot, the British Fell Running Championships with Rob Hope, the Trans Alpine Run with Andy Symonds and Tom Owens, and that’s just the highlights - every single member of the team contributed to that success.

This year we have streamlined the team a little to include 9 members (from 13 in 2009), and will be specifically targeting set races and goals at home and around the World.

I’d also like to thank all of the team’s partner sponsors too. They have shown faith in the team and we hope that we have delivered good value for that investment to date. The current economic climate doesn’t make it easy for companies, but our partners obviously feel that we are worth working with again this year – and for that the Salomon Trail Team is grateful.”

Team member Anna Frost is once again part of the Salomon set-up for 2010, and is motivated to have an even better season:

“2009 was a roller coaster for me personally. It started off with injury, resulting in knee surgery, and ended with my win at the Everest Marathon! However, in between I always felt part of a ‘team’ and the guys were always very supportive throughout my injury. Tim has a great set-up and with sponsors such as Salomon, Suunto and ZipVit we can’t go wrong really.

2010 will be a big year for me again hopefully, and the World Championships in Slovenia will be a particular goal for me”.

Also, 2010 will also see the team develop its profile in the trail running community. Members of the team will take part in the Salomon Spring / Summer 2010 trail running photo shoot next week in mid-Wales. At the shoot the team will also conduct interviews for use online throughout the season, along with the collation of an image library that will be used in 2010 for team and brand promotion.

The season gets underway proper with the team traveling to the first Salomon Turbo X race on the 7th of March at Surrey Hills.
