Perfect vision aids ultra marathon duo

Alex Flynn (suffering from Parkinson’s disease) and Richard Merry’s efforts to raise £1,000,000 for the Cure Parkinson’s Trust; a charity with the sole purpose of finding a cure for this terrible disease, started with a mind boggling distance of running one million metres. With a few events now under their belts, they now feel this is not tough enough! They have therefore increased the target to running 10,000,000 metres by 2014, planning to be half way completed by the time the Olympics are held in London.

Alex & Richard have, despite the horrible weather recently impacting on their training schedules, successfully completed another hard race – Country to Capital - adding another 69,200 meters to their total.

There’s a long way to go but distance covered to date since August 2009:

With the Marathon des Sables and Spartathlon to come, Alex and Rich are not letting the momentum drop and are in discussions to take their fund raising efforts even further. With rumours of a run between the UK and Italy in 2011, which will certainly be a challenge, where both Alex and Rich’s physical and mental strength will be put to the test. Watch this space!!!
