XTERRA AMAZON DEBUTS JUNE 5, 2010

XTERRA has trekked through some exotic jungles before, but never the Amazon ... until now. X3M, the producers of the XTERRA Brazil Series, are putting on XTERRA Amazon – a 1.5km swim, 30km mountain bike, and 9km trail run – on June 5, 2010 in the city of Manaus in Northern Brazil.

To get a feel for just what kind of jungle can be found in the planet’s largest rainforest, organizer Bernardo Fonseca posted this YouTube video from a scouting trip to the race site. The venue is a military base and as such athlete safety and all activities will be supported by the Brazilian Army.

Some of the XTERRA pros heading to the Amazon include Brian and Jenny Smith, and there is an $8,000 pro prize purse for the top five men and five women. There are only 50 entries for foreign athletes.
