3 Days of Riding in the Black Mountains this Summer

If three days of testing yourself in the saddle with rocky descents, huge climbs and Welsh forest riding sounds good to you, then clear some space in your summer diary for the Black Mountains 3 Day.

Running from 30 July – 1 August 2010, the epic new 3 day mountain bike stage endurance event is set amidst the awesome Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

300km through some serious terrain and some testing trails sounds like a seriously tough but incredibly rewarding ride. Riders will traverse moorland, forests, valleys, hilltops and negotiate steep cliffs. There will be some ‘hike a bike’ sections. It must be made very clear – this is a cross country endurance event. Don’t expect to spend all day on well manicured trails. The route will be waymarked and marshaled but you’ll be in some pretty remote places at times.

It won’t be all hardship and struggle though. To reward all your hard work in the saddle, the organisers will be making everything else as comfortable as possible. A tented village will be waiting for every rider when they complete the day’s ride. That’s right, the tents will be supplied and erected by the organisers. All you’ll need to do every day is pack your kit-bag and hand it in each morning. Lord knows you’ll have enough on your plate focusing on the day’s ride ahead!

Breakfasts and dinners will be supplied by the legendary Drop Off Café. Feed stations stocking Torq products will be available on each stage. Lunches supplied by the local communities will be available to buy at the tented village after the day’s riding. There’ll also be hot showers and access to massages, mechanics and bike wash facilities so both yourself and your bike will be well cared for.
