Anaconda Adventure National Series

This is Australia's premiere adventure race series and increasing in popularity as Australians adopt the new sport with vigour. The event, 50km culminating a swim, kayak, run and cycle leg will be a massive challenge for the 500 competitors expected to participate.

Get ready for some action and exploration this weekend on the Gold Coast as the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series rolls into town. Nearly a thousand athletes of all ages will head to Palm Beach Parklands to take on the challenge with events and entertainment happening throughout the weekend. Headlining the participants are local triathlon legend Brad Beven and former ironman star Guy Leech who are teaming up together to try this new and exciting contest for them in the first of the three race Series.

On Saturday afternoon at 4pm the Anaconda Junior Survivor starters gun will set around 500 kids off on a 4km fun obstacle course. The youngest entrant so far is 4-year-old Herb Hunter from Currumbin. He’s been dying to do it since watching big brother, 6-year-old Darcy, have a ball completing it last year. A natural athlete already, Herb does swimming, karate and tennis lessons each week which will no doubt provide him with necessary skills to competently perform the wading, sand running, spider’s web and other challenges he’ll face throughout the course. Shaking off a cold he is sure he’ll still finish but will keep his main aim in his sights and that is to knock Darcy off in the family competition. Sean, Herb’s dad, says that he’ll easily be able to do it all as he does similar kinds of activities in the backyard every day, “he’s an active little fella and will just run with the other kids. I might follow him for some of it but he’ll be fine. He’ll love it”, Sean said. A champion in the making perhaps.
