Coastal Classic Run

My wife said are you sure its Sunday, just check the Max Adventure site would you, “you idiot, its tomorrow†i called Tina who i was giving a lift, her response was the same she knew it was Saturday and would have been on my door at 6am anyway, a text to our support crew, the response to which was LOL and see you tomorrow, so all sorted and on with the race.
This part of the coast is a mecca for many, Hangliders all year round launch themselves skywards just round the corner, whales head north and south just off the coast twice a year, the sound of motorcycles reverberates on the winding roads through the park while walkers hit the multitude of trails north towards Bundeena, Marley, Garie, Era, and Burning Palms, not to mention all those surf spots.
The course is 29.1km although i am sure 30k is closer to the mark, i know thats what my GPS was telling me anyway. 300 entrants started in perfect conditions in pairs at 5 second intervals from Otford Public School. It wasn’t long before heart rates rocketed skywards as individuals climbed out of Otford Valley towards the coast. No sooner was the climb over then the single track started, 5 seconds seemed to be enough to spread folk out and little congestion seemed to be encountered, my aim had been to get past as many folk as possible before the downhill through palm jungle towards Era. Competitors had 1k at most of single track before a couple of K of firetrail leading to the rapid descent to Burning Palms and Era.
