Guy Andrews turns up the heat at Anaconda Adventure Race Lorne
Media Release - Rapid Ascent / 05.12.2010

The former surf ironman legend turned adventure racer, Andrews, has had a work and injury induced break from competitive sport for a couple of years but has had a carefully planned comeback assault with the goal of winning the elusive Lorne event that he got second place in back in the inaugural race in 2005. With him added to the field the men’s is possibly the strongest ever with previous winners Jarad Kohlar and Grant Suckling also racing plus numerous other contenders.
Now over 40 years old, he certainly shouldn’t be discounted as he is a multiple Anaconda Adventure Race winner and won the Series back in 2006. Claiming that he is, “probably at my fittest everâ€, he said, “I’ve really focused on my weaknesses and I train with an ocean paddling group on the Gold Coast which is arguably the strongest in the worldâ€. His training schedule has included a 100km trail running race, mountain bike events and some shorter multisport races that have helped him drop his weight down which will assist in the hilly Anaconda Lorne course. It’s not that he let himself go over the last few years either. Busy as a stunt driver this kept him fit in a different way and helped build his core strength. Adversely though, he spent some time in the last year filming Mad Max 4 in the remote outback making training difficult.
