NAV4/12 and The Bampton Bash
Press Release / 07.12.2010

The key to success will be good planning, route choice and navigation combined with a large dose of endurance. said Joe. The event area will cover a wide area around the Lake District, based from Bampton, in the Haweswater valley. The whole event has been formatted to be as accessible as possible, with the venue close to the M6. NAV4/12 runs from Mid-day to Midnight on Saturday 26th March, so you'll be racing into darkness for the later stages. You'll register on Saturday, around mid-morning, for an 11:30am event briefing - the clock starts at noon ... and stops at Mid-night. Don't be late. 'There are no tricks, no gimmicks, no surprises – unless you get lost - just great riding and running!'
NAV4/12 will be a tough event; the weather could still be very wintery, and racers will need to decide just how much time they spend on foot or on your bike, how often they change modes and where. Some controls will be best visited on foot, some by bike and some accessible by either bike or foot. Racers may choose to return to base or change modes remotely, away from base. You can race as pair or as an 'expert' Solo, if you're up for a real challenge.
NAV4/12 entrants have access to free camping at Bampton Village Hall, which is also the venue for our NAV4 weekend Navigation course, and The Tour de Kentmere trail run on Sunday morning. Hardcore racers can make it a doubly tough weekend by combining NAV4/12 with the Kentmere run. There is something for everyone at 'The Bampton Bash', whether beginner, expert or hardcore racer.
