Soldier Challenge Launched in London
Press Release / 19.01.2011

The Soldier Challenge will take place in the Capital on 26th March 2011 giving participants the chance to interact with London’s landmarks – many of which are normally off limits to the public – in a rather unusual way! The challenge is open to ¬all fitness levels and promises to be a fun experience. Teams of between two and four people can complete up to 35 military themed tasks and challenges (as many or as few as you like) in the Capital including an assault course at the side of the River Thames and cargo net climbing at Imperial War Museum.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said:
'The Soldier Challenge is a brilliant idea. For those taking part it will be a unique way to explore the city, getting you into places you might not normally be able to, and testing your mental agility as well as your physical endurance. Most importantly, it will also be raising money for soldiers, veterans and their families. For their dedication and sacrifice I urge people to give it a go and if you can't, please give generously to this great cause.'
With registration officially open, now is the perfect time to kick start a fitness programme and sign up at www.soldierchallenge.co.uk .
Every penny fundraised by the participants of Soldier Challenge goes straight to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity; supporting soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of real need, throughout their life. The Soldier Challenge is being held to tackle the shortfall in funds seen by the Charity due to the rise in applications for grants, currently on the increase by some 30% due to current conflicts – a major factor being post traumatic stress disorder.
Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up their ‘squad’ of up to four competitors to take part in the first Soldier Challenge Rat Race Adventure giving people the opportunity to tackle a range of high adrenaline tasks around the capital, while at the same time raising money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
