Soldier Challenge Sold Out

Press Release / 23.03.2011
London’s first ever The Soldier Challenge has now officially SOLD OUT with 1,000 competitors set to take on the fundraising urban adventure race this Saturday 26th March in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

The first event of its kind will see participants tackle as many of the 35 military-themed challenges and checkpoints as they can in the allocated four hours. The hub of the day’s activity will be at Waterloo Station where the event village will play host to not only the start and finish line, but also event challenges, live bands, cheering supporters and various stands and demonstrations as well as refreshments.

Dotted around the city will be an array of adrenalin inducing team activities such as abseiling at The Oval Cricket Ground, an inflatable assault course in the moat at the Tower of London, a 3D maze onboard HMS Belfast and cycling and paint balling at Waterloo Station.

Every penny fundraised by the participants of Soldier Challenge goes straight to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity; supporting soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of real need, throughout their life.

The first ever Soldier Challenge is organised by Rat Race Adventures, the team behind The Rat Race Urban Adventure, Scotland Coast to Coast and the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest.

About The Soldiers’ Charity The Soldiers’ Charity was established in 1944 as the Army Benevolent Fund and has evolved to meet the changing needs of soldiers and veterans. Today, the charity continues to offer grants to deliver a lifetime of support to both individuals and other service-related charities such the Royal British Legion, BLESMA, Help for Heroes and SSAFA, regardless of whether a soldier has taken part in current or previous conflicts. Patron of The Soldiers’ Charity is Her Majesty the Queen. For more information on The Soldiers’ Charity please see www.soldierscharity.org.

The Soldier Challenge In the last two years alone The Soldiers’ Charity has seen a 30 percent rise in applications for financial support, a trend that is set to continue. As part of its fundraising and awareness efforts, The Soldiers’ Charity is running a money-raising urban adventure challenge dubbed The Soldier Challenge in central London on 26 March 2011. Squads, or teams, of four people from all walks of life will compete in a high-adrenalin set of 35 challenges across the capital, including the chance to access major military landmarks in a way never normally available - such as an obstacle course in the moat at the Tower of London - all related to the skills required to be first-class soldier.
