Approaching Half Way for the Epic Tri Fundraising Challenge
Rob Howard / 21.04.2011

As they approach the half-way mark their fundraising is at the same point. They hope to raise £25,000 for Cancer Research UK and with Gift Aid contributions they have now passed £12,800. It’s a considerable sum, but there is still along way to go and still time for anyone inspired by their efforts to donate. This can be done online through Just Giving and any rise in the total will give Bruce and Anthony a boost as they dig deep to try and complete this unique challenge.
The pair have had some good fortune with the weather, which is as good as could possibly be hoped for in April. Both LEJOG and the Bob Graham round are more often attempted near mid-summer for longer daylight hours and hopefully better weather, but with the date of the DW race fixed at Easter they had no choice in the schedule. But the weather gods have smiled on a good cause and the headwinds, rain and cloud which could have made the challenge so much harder have not been a factor.
The challenge is also supported by a large group of racers, friends, colleagues and professionals, who are experts in support and are providing their time to keep the challenge on the road. This includes runners who accompanied the pair on the Bob Graham, physios, mechanics, drivers, cooks etc, and many companies who have sponsored them with services and equipment. It’s a big team effort.
