The 2011 Questars series of 1 and 2 day adventure races is half way through, but there are still some great events ahead and a chance to qualify for the Questars series prizes this year.

All available places in each of the one day Questars Trio events (that’s the three stage event including kayaking) sold out for both the New Forest event in March and the Brecon Beacons in May. The next Questars adventure race is on 16 July in the chalk downlands of Wiltshire for which Questars Trio places are being snapped up. So if you are thinking of entering it’s recommended that you do so quickly to secure a place.

The event is based at Pewsey with kayaking on the Kennet & Avon canal and is always very popular. A new course will include some of the best off road tracks and paths in the area affording wonderful views and varied terrain. Should you need to hire a bike a local bike hire company has just agreed to offer a bike hire and details will be finalised soon.

Another very popular location is the venue for the Cotswold Hills Questars to be held on Sept. 3rd at the royal Agricultural College south of Pershore. A fresh course will include both valley and hills with kayaking on the wonderfully scenic River Avon. It’s a chance to explore the delightful Cotswold countryside whilst choosing your own routes and setting your own challenge between the myriad of optional checkpoints that will be on offer.

Q2 in Thetford

The final date in the 2011 Questars series is a weekend Q2 The Quest Challenge event on 1 & 2 October. We are excited about returning to Thetford Forest on the borders of Suffolk and Norfolk for the first time since 2003.

There is an event campsite right alongside the Little River Ouse – which actually isn’t that little. This affords some great kayaking that will feature in a number of the stages of this multi-stage event alongside some extensive biking through forest tracks and trail running over woodland and heath land. Plus expect a few team challenges and a strategic twist too to some of the stages. All in all a great finale to the 2011 Questars Adventure Race Series.

2011 Series Leaderboard

The 2011 Questars Series Leaderboard has been updated with scores from the first three events. Tom Davies is way ahead with a maximum 4000 points from 3 events and Carys Holloway leads the ladies category and is an impressive 3rd overall (and pushing Miles Watkins hard for second).

If you’ve taken part in a one day Questars event you can still qualify for series prizes in 2011. These will be based on your best three scores in one day Questars plus your best score in a Q2 The Quest Challenge weekend event.
