Boonstra Set To Conclude Pro Xterra Sa Career In Knysna
News Release / 23.06.2011

According to Boonstra, he’ll always be involved in the sport of XTERRA. “I’ll never stop taking part in XTERRA races I just won’t do so on a professional level anymore. I’d really like to start focusing on mountain bike stage races such as the Contego Wines2Whales MTB Race. Above all I am really looking forward to spending some time at home, between work and training I only see my house and my fiancé in the dark,†laughs Boonstra.
“My most memorable XTERRA moment would have to be when I was crowned XTERRA SA Champion in 2009, that was really special,†continues Boonstra. “Securing a second place at XTERRA Japan in 2010 was also so surreal. The sport of XTERRA has been really good to me so I’d like to stay involved and give back to the sport as much as possibleâ€.
After the Duesouth Xterra Knysna Boonstra plans on taking part at XTERRA Japan and hopefully XTERRA Mexico before retiring from the professional XTERRA circuit at the end of the year.
The Duesouth Xterra Knysna is the only XTERRA SA event that does not feature a water discipline, but instead follows a run/bike/run format. Forming part of the much loved Knysna Oyster Festival participants can take part individually or in teams of two.
