Terra Nova's new QUASAR packs blend low weight with strength

Press Release / 30.06.2011
Terra Nova is adding to its range of successful lightweight packs with three alpine and expedition rucksacks. The Quasar packs have been designed to offer the best combination of low weight, high strength and functionality on the market, appealing to the weight conscious climber or mountaineer. The result is a weight saving of around 30% compared to similar products.

30 litre, 45 litre and 55 litre versions are available, with each pack being carefully designed to include essential features whilst omitting unnecessary details. The impressive minimum weights of the packs are 395g for the Quasar 30, 470g for the Quasar 45 and 540g for the Quasar 55.

All the packs are made using Terra Nova’s Matrix fabric to reduce weight while still offering high strength, with durable Cordura reinforcing key wear points. Some of the features include a removable main lid which allows the extendable main compartment to be loaded or unpacked more easily. The pack can be used minus the lid or with the mini lid to save weight. There are multiple gear attachment points for crampons, an ice axe and rope, removable belt pockets, internal hydration pockets and back protection.

The Voyager range of packs, new for 2012 have been designed for backpackers and travellers who require low weight, multiple features and great value. The three rucksacks offer many of the features built into the Quasar range such as the removable lid, multiple gear attachment points and hydration system pocket but for a lower price point.. The weights of the packs are still impressive too at 450g, 550g and 700g for the Voyager 30, 45 and 55 respectively.

The Voyager packs are constructed from Terra Nova’s high tenacity Ripstop Nylon, which is already used extensively throughout the rucksack range, and reinforced with durable Matrix fabric, at strategic wear points.
