Cyclist in for a Killer Ride to Raise £10,000
News Release / 09.08.2011

Matt Jones will raise funds by completing ‘Killer Kielder’ a totally unique and epic off-road one day adventure - which will take place on 3rd September. Matt will attempt to cycle 100 miles through Kielder Forest, paddle 5 miles in a kayak across Kielder Water and then run the grueling 26 miles around the Lakeside Way, all in the space of 24 hours!
Matt is hoping that the challenge will help him raise over £10,000 to support the Trust which helps people with disabilities to realise their potential through the challenge of outdoor adventure. He said: Kielder was where I had my first taste of competitive cycling a few years back and I’m always looking for the next big thing that will push me mentally and physically to my limits and beyond. Kielder is one of the very few places in the UK where such a demanding one day challenge is possible and I was keen to support a charity that is local to the Kielder area.
“Calvert Trust Kielder was for me both an obvious choice and a perfect match with the spirit of Killer Kielder; it is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves. In the same way I am setting myself the biggest challenge of my life; Calvert Trust Kielder enables people to overcome their own challengs every day.
“I would like to thank all of the companies who are helping to make this possible by sponsoring the challenge, Bruichladdich, Purple Mountain, M Steel Cycles, Exposure Lights and Perro.
