The Urban Challenge
Press Release / 10.08.2011

The Challenge is open to teams from any organisation in the UK, as well as private individuals. It will take the form of a navigation challenge and competing pairs will be given a map and a route book. Using these, teams have to develop a strategy to take in as many points in and around Perth as they can in the fastest time. The team that completes the most activities in the fastest race time will be the winner.
The event entry fee is £150.00+vat per team for businesses, £150.00 for private individual teams and £70.00 for student teams with all participants being asked to raise a minimum of £100 per person for the Alzheimer’s Research Project.
Working in conjunction with NHS Tayside at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth, the Alzheimer’s project’s aim is to understand more about the contribution of the rural environment to the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Aside from the sufferers, most people have been affected by Alzheimer’s in some way either as carers, relatives or friends of patients. The study aims to improve diagnosis of early dementia, improve prediction of dementia within “at risk†families and has the potential to test new interventions.
