DUESOUTH XTERRA SA champs becomes a two day affair

After much deliberation the organisers of the DUESOUTH XTERRA presented by REHIDRAT® SPORT are pleased to announce that the much anticipated South African Championships will in future be celebrated over a two day period (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2012).

According to Michael Meyer, Director of Stillwater Sport & Entertainment, the 2012 DUESOUTH XTERRA SA Champs is going to be bigger than ever. “We are very excited by the new initiative. By holding the XTERRA Grabouw Lite on the Saturday and the XTERRA Grabouw Full on the Sunday, we are not only able to accept more entrants per event, but each event will get the recognition and support that it deserves. In addition, trail running enthusiasts can look forward to the introduction of the New Balance Trail Run on the Saturday. This event will see runners testing their skill on the XTERRA Full trail run route, presenting XTERRA competitors with the perfect opportunity to test the route before the big race on the Sunday,” says Meyer.

ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN for the DUESOUTHXTERRA Buffelspoort Dam (Saturday, 28 January 2012) and DUESOUTHXTERRA Grabouw (Saturday, 25 and Sunday, 26 February 2012).

DUESOUTH XTERRA Buffelspoort Dam ~ XTERRA Warriors taking on the DUESOUTH XTERRA Buffelspoort Dam presented by REHIDRAT® SPORT can look forward to swimming in the pristine mountain waters of the Magaliesberg. The mountain bike route will include diverse combination of quick and challenging single track, a rock garden, thick sand track, serious climbs up jeep track and a fun and winding single track descent through indigenous bushveld with spectacular views.

Event Format: DUESOUTH XTERRA Full: 1.5km swim, 27km mountain bike and 12km trail run

DUESOUTH XTERRA Lite: 400m swim, 17km mountain bike and 6km trail run

DUESOUTH XTERRA Grabouw ~ The DUESOUTH XTERRA Grabouw presented by REHIDRAT® SPORT takes the form of the South African Championship, which in turn forms part of the XTERRA World Tour. Athletes competing at this event stand the chance to qualify for the world championship final in Hawaii later the year.
