Réunion d’Aventures ; ‘The great test of outdoor sporting adventures’
News Release / 03.10.2011

This is not the case with Réunion d’Aventures, a competition organized by Gérard Fusil, the original creator of the Raid Gauloises. Beyond being a race that involves several non-motorized disciplines - the event allows teams of three comeptitors to live in total autonomy for six days in the heart of the extraordinary island of La Réunion, in the most remote areas.
Every night they will have to stop at a specific time to bivouac, wherever they find themselves. They begin again at six o’clock in the morning, when the sun rises, monitored by a sophisticated GPS system.
Thus Réunion d’Aventures brings competitors in to a privileged world, the world of explorers, of those who enjoy roughing it and know the joys of simple effort and the rewards of discoveries which leave an indelible mark.
Réunion d’Aventures is not necessarily restricted to an elite capable of extreme exploits. Although the most challenging race route is dedicated to them, the route is arranged so that good athletes who are more the weekend-warrior type, can also finish after having fully experienced the adventure.
The race takes place next year from May 11-20th, with mixed, male and female team classifciations and three classes ; Extreme, Raider and Adventure. The course details have not yet been announced but will include ; hiking, orienteering, mountain biking, canyoneering, sea and river paddling, plus rope works, and the top prize is 3000 Euro.
The entry fee is 900 Euro (plus taxes) and contact details are on the website www.authentiqueaventure.com (The English language pages of the website are yet to be updated however.)
