OMM Denmark– Extrem Maraton is the latest OMM event

OMM, the original mountain marathon, is known and respected throughout the world. Its roots go back to 1968 and it attracts runners from all walks of life. It is seen as the “blue-ribbon” event in the British calendar and being in the last week-end in October is the race that many athletes see as the pinnacle of their year’s events.
OMM is now looking to find races which represent the best of the best in each country or region which will then be promoted by OMM, internationally. OMM France has been running for many years and this year will be in Avoriaz in September. OMM Iceland, organised by Dave Annandale, a renowned international race organiser takes place on 19th 20th May. These will now be joined by OMM Denmark – Extrem Maraton on 26th – 27th May. All events are non profit making and are organised for the competitors.
OMM Denmark, EXTREM MARATON, the premier event in Denmark started in 2001 is organised by Team Daredevils. It takes place in the last weekend in May. A two day event. It has courses that range from 17.5k a day to the course for elite runners at 35km each day. All courses need basic navigational skills. The event is held in the forests around Silkeborg. Silkeborg is located in mid-eastern Jutland. The surrounding areas are regarded as among the most beautiful places in Denmark. The landscape is dominated by big lakes, forests and some of the highest points in Denmark, including Himmelbjerget.
